University of Waterloo Research Laboratory Renovation

The renovation for the Cryptography, Security, and Privacy (CrySP) Lab re-envisions 4,000 sq.ft. of working and collaboration space to provide a cohesive, functional and inspirational innovation hub.

Offices, collaboration spaces and the security analysis lab are anchored around the central computer lab. The lounge features a glass partition to provide a visual connection and sound separation. The exposed ceiling increases the volume of the central space while soft sided cubicles and suspended acoustic panels reduce sound levels.

The interior finishes are youthful and energetic. Deep tones of gray and black are punctuated with accents of bright yellow on the walls and floor. Light wood doors and millwork compliment the colour palette and soften the atmosphere. Whiteboard walls in the collaborative spaces provide a tool to map out solutions and record spontaneous thoughts.
