With 2 decades of design experience in emergency services facilities, Green Propeller Design is equipped to not only produce a functionally efficient and energy efficient building, but will also be able to assist you in programming for future space needs, and provide custom solutions for your organization’s unique requirements.

We have completed projects for Fire Services, Police Services and Emergency Medical Services through Southern Ontario, most recently the Police Services Facility for the Six Nations of the Grand River near Brantford.

Six Nations Police Building

The Six Nations Police Building combines functionality, security, and energy efficiency.

Sustainability choices were directed at minimizing operating costs. Demand reduction strategies include ICF construction for exterior walls, high levels of air tightness and thermal insulation for walls and roof; extensive day lighting in all regularly occupied areas, and careful zoning to reflect occupancy throughout the day / week.

Passive energy responses include a geothermal heating / cooling system, day lighting, orientation to optimize heat gain with solar controls, and water conservation (rainwater harvesting and greywater flushing). Technology efficiencies include T5 lighting, Building Automation System, heat pump technology for air handling, low-flow washroom fixtures, and on-demand domestic hot water heating.
