Waterloo Regional Police - Division 2

TWFP – Architects & Engineers
Marina Huissoon – Project Architect

The Waterloo Police Division 2 detachment was originally built in the 1970’s, and provides full service policing to the Cambridge community. Due to significant changes in Policing over the life of the building, as well as developments in technology and investigative infrastructure, the building required substantial technological upgrades as well as additional space related to growth of the community. Various functions have shifted to Headquarters to allow growth of Detective and CIU units. Communications and front desk services were also substantially improved.

This renovation added operational areas, responded to changing service delivery within the Waterloo Police service, and improved front desk services for the Public.

Phasing of the construction was carefully planned and managed so that the policing operations could continue uninterrupted throughout the renewal project.

The appearance of the building was updated at the front entrance, but new components have been seamlessly integrated with the existing building. Visibility from the street was improved by the addition of large scale signage, so that the building could be a beacon for the public.
